COACHES AIMS & GOALS

Create a lifetime love of the game for your players.

Be and create an environment that allow your players wanting to remain with the club.

Give players quality coaching to give them every opportunity to succeed.

Create and build a team that can enjoy the game and challenge at the highest level it is capable of.

Our Highest & Most Competitive Level Travel Teams

  • U9-U12 - BE ACTIVE - Participate in extra indoor & outdoor events, including tournaments, training and clinics.  Create a culture of doing and expecting more however not at the expense of enjoying the game and winning.

League's particpated in should be LIJSL (U9-U11) - Movement to NYCSL or EDP U12.  Team mandatory participation in NY Cup & LI State Cup.  3-5 Tournaments.

  • U13-U15 - GET READY - Doing more should now be normal and being part of that team.  This should be coach driven and player-centered.

League participation should be NYCSL/NYPL and/or EDP.  Team should apply for Spring Eastern Regional League no later than U15.  Team mandatory participation in NY Cup & ENY State Cup. 5-7 Tournaments.

  • U16-U19 - COLLEGE PREP - Team should be positioned to attend major showcases (Bethesda, CASL, Disney, Jeff Cup, etc) and participating in higher level leagues.

League participation should be short season NYPL in Fall.  For Spring Eastern Regional League complimented by either EDP or NYPL.  Team mandatory participation in NY Cup & LI State Cup. 7-10 Tournaments.

  • U19+ - CONTINUED CONNECTION WITH CLUB - Become next generation of club coaches, referees & volunteers. Be a life-long advocate for the club.

Our Travel & Development Teams;

  • U9-U12 - DEVELOPMENT TEAMS - Encourage players to recognize importance of good training habits and to participate in extra curricular activity to reward players wanting to advance.  Teams should focus on fun & enjoyment above anything else. 

League participation should be LIJSL U9-U11 and consideration for NYCSL U12+.  Cup competitions should include mandatory Arch & LI Cup participation.  3-4 Tournaments.

  • U13-U15 - REDUCE THE DROPOUTS - This is where 70% of children drop out of competitive/organized sports.  As a club, we want to reverse that trend and keep players focused on the social and athletic benefit of playing soccer.  Teams should continue to set goals and challanges to improve, and continue to enjoy and have fun.

League participation should be a continuation in LIJSL or NYCSL play through Fall & Spring.  Cup competitions should include mandatory Arch & LI Cup participation and potentially NY Cup Silver Bracket.  3-5 Tournaments a year.

  • U16-U19 - PLAY FOR FRIENDSHIP & FUN - A team that has grown together with a committed coach, players and families is more likely to stay together.  Keep the team active, engaged and having fun. 

League participation should be a continuation in LIJSL or NYCSL play through Fall & Spring.  Cup competitions should include mandatory Arch & LI Cup participation and potentially NY Cup Silver Bracket.  3-5 Tournaments a year.

  • U19+ - CONTINUED CONNECTION WITH CLUB - Become next generation of coaches, play on Stony Brook adult team.  Be a good advocate for the club.

Stony Brook Soccer prides itself on having a highly-motivated and qualified staff, with active teams and strong participation and 'buy-in' from players parents and coaches, regardless of the teams level or stature.  We are first and foremost a club that wants to improve and exceed expectations.  We want to develop players who will remember their time with our club fondly.  We want to develop the problem-solvers, the team player and teach values of commitment and over-coming and facing challanges.
