Stony Brook Soccer Club announces Head of Goalkeeper Development Role
We are delighted to announce that former Stony Brook University Seawolves Goalkeeper Jason Orban will be taking on the new role of the club's Head of Goalkeeper Development from the Fall of 2016.  Jason holds a USSF 'D' license as well as a variation of different Goalkeeper  training qualifications.  Jason currently works on the Men's staff at St Joesph's College and is looking forward to the challenges that his new role will bring.
"With this new role, I hope to bring a level of consistency in information- between coaches, between players, between parents- to how our club views goalkeeper development. My vision is to create a challenging, but positive and confident, training environment and structure for the club’s goalkeepers to learn and develop the technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of the position. Our model of goalkeeping will not focus on creating shot stoppers, but developing total goalkeepers capable of handling all the defensive demands of the position, as well as being the 11th player in the team’s attack. I hope to achieve that consistency of information, vision, and developmental model through open communication and collaboration with the club’s coaches, and by being a resource point for the club’s goalkeepers and parents.".
Director of Coaching Mark Nash said.  "Jason has done a terrific job with our goalkeepers the last 12 months so this is a natural progression for our program that we give him a more senior and prominent role within our club.  Having that consistent connection with our young keepers especially will help them grow more confident and have an excellent mentor as well as a coach".
