The Club's intramural program focuses on developing core soccer skills, building endurance and enhancing social skills within a fun healthy environment. The Club currently offers programs from Little Strikers (ages 3-5) through the 9th grade. All Intramural games are played at The Stony Brook Soccer Park. Games are played on Sundays during the Fall/Spring seasons, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Teams are coached by parent volunteers that strive to foster a love for the game and build character through sportsmanship.
Little Strikers (coed):
We offer a fun introduction to soccer for ages 3 - 5. The program is geared to familiarize the youngest of players with soccer concepts. We practice using skill-related games with the kids for 25 minutes, focusing on individual skill building activities, then split the teams and play 3v3 games. The intention is to build confidence, coordination, agility and sportsmanship through participation on a team. The children need a uniform, shin guards, size 3 ball, and sneakers or turfs. No cleats allowed.
This program is set-up similar to the Little Strikers program, utilizing skill-related games for the first 25 minutes, and then 3v3 games against other Kindergarten teams. The division is coed, with 9-12 player rosters and no keeper. The children need a uniform, shin guards, size 3 ball, and sneakers or turfs. No cleats allowed.
1st Grade (coed):
This division is coed, with 12-16 player rosters and no keeper. In addition to one hour, 4v4 Sunday games, the first grade division also holds one practice session per week, at the discretion of each team’s coach. The children need a uniform, shin guards, size 3 ball, and cleats.
2nd – 6th Grades (coed & Girls only):
Children in grades 2nd – 6th are placed onto teams for their grade-level. In addition to one hour Sunday games, the teams also hold one practice session per week, at the discretion of the coach. Each grade level program offers 2 divisions (numbers permitting) coed and girls only. The children need a uniform, shin guards, ball, and cleats. See Matrix for more detailed specifics by grade level.
We are always looking for parents to volunteer to be coaches and assistant coaches. We welcome those with or without experience. Our coaches are offered ongoing age-specific training, instructional clinics, and online tutorials.
